BUSY!!

Wow, it has been awhile since I updated this site! We have been busy this summer working out, going for walks, swimming, going on short trips, and going to the zoo.

Updates:
Miles turned one with a Rock and Roll themed bash at the end of June. He sported a Mohawk and received many great presents. Thank you to everyone that attended. Miles is successfully walking now and sometimes even running around. He can now say a few words like mama, dada, all done, hi, and I think he even says love you. He is such a smiley little boy and who can resist this face? He is one busy boy climbing on everything and even being adventurous with his dismounts off furniture (He thinks it's a blast to slide off furniture face first).

Maycie is in her final phases of being potty trained. We thought that she was potty trained awhile ago but then she took a couple of steps backward. She now wears big girl underwear all day without accidents and a pull up at night. She has maybe an accident or two a week but is well on her way. We enrolled Maycie in swimming lessons through the gym that I go to. She wasn't keen on the size and temperature of the pool at first but quickly got the hang of it. She passed the class last week with flying colors--even SWIMMING ON HER OWN!!!
Collin and I celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on August 19th. It's amazing to us that we have two wonderful, healthy children in that short amount of time. We feel so lucky to have them! They never stop making us laugh and smile.
Collin has been able to stay home more often this year which has been so wonderful. He finished his first year of graduate school this summer and will start back again in a few weeks. I enjoyed being a stay at home mother this year but I am a little sad to be back at work. Yes back to work! Last week, I had an interview for a middle school position and within an hour of the interview, I received a job offer!!! We had to find daycare within 48 hours! Now I am a teacher within the Chaska school system. YAY!!!!!!!!! I love my building and the staff there. Needless to say it was a whirlwind weekend so I didn't even have the chance to be upset about not being with them all day. It hit me on Wednesday when Miles cried as I left...sniff sniff. The kids love their daycare lady Gail and can't wait to get there each morning. Maycie has a preschool curriculum that she follows each day and Miles loves to play with the other children there.

As the week goes on, I will update you with other fun happenings of the past summer.

Rock The Cradle

At the end of January, we attended Rock the Cradle sponsored by "The Current" (a local radio station) at the Minneapolis Art Institute. We wanted to attend last year but Maycie wasn't quite old enough and Collin was in China at the time. At Rock the Cradle, the kids could go to a petting musical zoo (touch and play instruments), take a baby Yoga class (this was quite amusing!), be a guest on the radio, go to concerts, walk around the museum, and go to the DISCO. Maycie had a blast in the Disco and enjoyed playing music. Miles had a blast observing everyone. I have a feeling we will be going to this event every year!

Miles wanted to join in on the fun!

Miles's First Tooth

It's official, Miles got his first tooth on Saturday! He had a really rough week so I knew it was coming soon. I have a feeling that another will make an appearance later this week.

Quinn and James's wedding

As mentioned in earlier posts, the past month of December was quite busy for Collin and I due our friends James and Quinn getting married. We were both in the wedding on Dec 12th at the Union Depot in St. Paul. It was such a beautiful wedding. Here are a couple of pictures.
Quinn was absolutely stunning in her dress and James was handsome in his tuxedo.

There are many great pictures from that night but here are just a few.

Kids update

Maycie (2)-- Her vocabulary is constantly amazing us. The other day, she saw Collin's cold pills and said" Daddy's medicine. Daddy has bad cough." She can sing her ABC's all the way through and even has the ending too! Her counting is also getting better. Maycie also loves to play all day long with her new toys and books from Christmas. She can get sassy at times but it's really funny when she tells me to be quiet when I sing songs...is my voice really that bad? Maycie has regressed a little in the potty training department. She was really great at telling me when she had to go to the bathroom during the day and staying dry all day (except nap times) but with the holidays, she's back in pull-ups. Now that the holidays are over we are working on it again. She loves to get "Ms" (M&Ms) for going to the bathroom which makes me think that it won't be long before we are back in the right direction. Maycie also interested in spelling lately. She thinks it's great when I spell out her name.

Miles (6 months)--He is officially crawling and sitting up on his own. He started to sit up on his own in early December and sort of crawling the week before Christmas. Miles would get up on his knees and hands and rock back & forth, then lunge towards something. At Christmas Miles figured out that if he moved a knee and a hand together then he would move, even if it was backwards. Now he is moving in the army crawl sort of way when he really wants something fast but other than that he is using his hands and knees together. We also think that he is getting his first tooth. His poor gums have been red and swollen for a week now but today I saw a little white bump. He's such a big, happy, giggly baby!!! We can't get enough of him.

Miles has his 6 month check up in a week so we'll see if he has passed Maycie in weight. Girls get ready for the results to see who the winner is. (My girlfriends and I have placed a friendly wager on it.)

New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve this year was really special. Our friends, Ryan and Jessica got ENGAGED!! YEAH!! Congrats!!! We can't wait for the wedding!

Before I go on, I just wanted to mention how AMAZING my parents have been. My mom and dad had the kids most weekends in December due to the wedding that Collin and I were in and then New Year's. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! I know it was SUCH a pain and you hated every moment-hehehe.

On New Year's, we met up with four other couples to celebrate. We went out to eat at Al Vento in South MPLS. They had the most amazing food! We all gathered at Jill and Nick's house to car pool and to toast to the engagement of Ryan and Jessica. Jessica was so adorable-Her hand was still shaking two hours later. (Ryan had proposed at 5:30 pm at his house). We went to dinner and went back to Jill and Nick's house to sing Happy Birthday to Nick. We had a fun night! Thank you Jill, Nick, Quinn, James, Jessica, Ryan, Jesse, and Niki for being there to ring in the New Year with us! We love you!

Christmas

This year we had quite the Christmas. Uncle Ben was in town for two weeks so the kids and I spent most of the two weeks with him (poor Collin had to work). Maycie and Miles loved having Uncle Ben around and boy did he spoil them.
We had Christmas Eve at the Kritzers'. Christmas morning we opened some presents from Santa and left for my parents' house. We opened more presents there (good thing we drove two cars!!) We loved all of the presents from everyone-Thank you!

One of the pictures that I wanted to send out for Christmas cards--I never made that happen. Maybe next year!

Miles was tuckered out from all of the pictures.
